Because of a name mix-up, hair artist Burkharda Meier is hired as a singer on a dreamboat. At first, she sounds no better than a crybaby, but a few singing lessons, love affairs and minor murders later, she becomes an audience favorite as Nancy Meyer...

One day the dive instructor Fred Norman, who works at a jet-set resort on the Costa Smeralda, is approached by Andrea Jacobs. She is the girl-friend of the gangster Harry Lang. Some years ago, both have the cash of a transport robbery sink into the sea, to secure this stolen money for their fellow gangsters. Jacobs and Lang force Norman to assist them to appear the gold. There is tension on board of the fishing cutter, which attempts to discover the loot. Especially, when the operation appears to be much harder than expected. Furthermore, an ex-partner of both gangsters, Paul Barko, is trailing the trio.

After a ship docks in Hamburg, a prosecutor and a commissioner investigate the disappearance of the skipper that happened during a storm.

Kurt Kars, the young, enthusiastic but rather inexperienced captain of a fishing vessel, lets his ambition drive him into a risky venture. According to a newspaper report, there are excellent fishing grounds in the Arctic Ocean. Against the orders of the combine, he heads for them. A collision with drift ice puts the crew and ship in extreme danger. Kurt proves his worth in this emergency situation, but is called to account on his return. Initially, he wants to resign out of defiance, but then comes to his senses, realizing his guilt. The older captains, who have always kept their fishing grounds a secret and hardly ever passed on their experiences to the collective, realize that they too were not entirely innocent in the "Kars case".

"Captain" Werner and his crew are quite astonished: in the depot of the Berlin garbage disposal there is a stroller with a baby!
